Personal Care Aides must complete a 40 hour training program before caring for patients.
This course consists of 16 chapters, each with a short quiz at the end. You must successfully complete each quiz before you will be able to move onto the next chapter. You will be able to go back and review a session and retake a quiz.
The system will require you to view each chapter in its entirety before being able to take a quiz.
The system will track your progress. Once all chapters and final exam are successfully completed, you must the notify the VAHC office (804-285-8636 or email [email protected]) . VAHC staff will verify the successful completion and a certificate of completion for the 32 hour program with sent to the agency that registered you for the program.
You must then reach out to that agency and they will provide the last 8 hours of training to include skills competency assessment and any onboarding requirements. Employer should issue you a certificate for those 8 hours. Both certificates must be filed with your employee records.
